On May 15, the new Cruise Terminal in Lisbon was the venue chosen for the presentation of Seatrade Cruise Med, the largest event for the Mediterranean cruise market and one of the largest in the world in the sector, to be held in the Portuguese capital on 19 and 20 September .
During the press conference, Lídia Sequeira, Port of Lisbon President of the Board of Directors, said: "To welcome this prestigious event is recognition of the work we have been doing in recent years in the cruise sector. We believe that the realization of this event will contribute to boost the economy of the sector at local and national level, especially now that the port of Lisbon is prepared and equipped with a Cruise Terminal of last generation, capable of receiving all kind of ships of cruise and passengers."
The presentation of the 2018 edition of Seatrade Cruise Med was attended by the President of MedCruise, Airam Diaz Pastor, Emma Howell, Group Marketing Manager of Seatrade, and the Director General of Lisbon Cruise Port, Ricardo Ferreira.
Regarding the presence confirmed as exhibitors at Seatrade Cruise Med of West Sea Estaleiros Navais, Lda., Lisnave, and Naval Rocha SA, Emma Howell stated that: "The commitment of these four shipyards to their exhibition at the Seatrade Cruise Med 2018 is a testament to the dynamism of the industry and a unique incentive for the discussion on maintaining a promising future."
The president of MedCruise, Airam Diaz Pastor, commented: "Together, we face the new challenges that the cruise industry puts us: construction of new terminals, the development of port infrastructure, the expansion of emerging markets and new regulations, and environmental and energy related issues. Events such as the Seatrade Cruise Med are a platform to discuss these challenges and opportunities, and we host this event in September as a prime venue to promote this discussion. "
