Greenock Ocean Terminal receives industry award

Greenock Ocean Terminal was delighted this year to receive the Best Shoreside Welcome at the Cruise Insights 2011 Awards. This award, which was presented to General Manager Andrew Hemphill at Seatrade Miami in March this year, is a wonderful accolade for the Terminal and all the staff and volunteers who have all worked extremely hard to provide a welcoming environment for all passengers calling into the Terminal.
A large factor in receiving this award is the contribution of the Inverclyde Tourist Group, whose dedication to providing visitors to the area with a friendly greeting and helpful information, combined with continued investment by Clydeport and its partners into the Terminal facilities, helps ensure that passengers leave with fond memories of their visit to Greenock.
This award is especially significant as it is given on the basis on feedback given from cruise line executives, who themselves receive feedback from ships captains and passengers. Therefore the award reflects the fact the Greenock Ocean Terminal has provided an excellent service to the various cruise lines which have called into the Terminal in the last few years.
This year will see 40 vessels and nearly 65,500 passengers calling into Greenock Ocean Terminal, a record level at the Terminal and a 13% increase on the previous year. So far this year the Terminal has welcomed sister ships Grand Princess and Caribbean Princess, as well as handling turnaround calls for the Hebridean Princess and Boudicca.
The Terminal is also looking forward to handling turnaround calls for the Ocean Countess, as well as carrying out the first international turnaround call with Kristina Cruises flying in passengers to embark on a cruise aboard the Kristina Katarina.
